Artwork Story: Whether it was the powerful sound of the shofarim or an earthquake that caused the city walls of Jericho to come tumbling down, one thing is sure: in Victor Halvani’s sculptures the shofar is a symbol of victory, joy personal freedom. The sculpture was initially created in 1981 in a smaller version (than that in the photo) and in 1994 in a larger version. The person blowing the shofar looks up, and as in other sculptures of the artist, the upward flow evokes hope and inspiration in the viewer.
