Artwork Story: It might have been curiosity that killed Lot’s wife, “And his wife looked behind him and turned into a pillar of salt” (Genesis 19:26). But maybe it was not curiosity but grief over the people she left behind, in the burning city of Sodom. The desert wind blows through her hair as her body leans forward, toward the future, yet her head turns back, to the past she left behind. It’s one of the artworks that takes you back in time to the human dilemma of people who had to leave behind all that was dear to them.
