Artwork Story: “Wherever you go I will go, and wherever you lodge I will lodge, your people shall be my people and your God my God…” (Book of Ruth 1:16) Ruth of Moab follows her Israelite mother-in-law to Beit Lehem out of loyalty and trust, and ultimately becomes the mother of the Kingdom of Israel. In this artwork, Victor Halvani succeeded in expressing perfect harmony between two individuals who come from different pasts yet have a common future. In this iconic sculpture, the simple separate lines merge “at gut level” and separate again, symbolizing the power of these two independent women’s camaraderie and courage. The sculpture was created in two sizes: an indoor sculpture, available for sale, and an outdoor sculpture, which can be found in different art collections worldwide and in the Victor Halvani Sculpture Park in Safed.
