Artwork Story: If you closely look at The Dancer, you can recognize motifs of the artist’s bird sculptures. The upward movement, the lifting of the arms, the curves in the back and chest, evoke a feeling of upliftment and lightness. The artist, whose body weighed down on him and made his movement difficult, found in the dancers and the birds he created the delicate, light movement he longed for. Victor’s “dancers” captured the hearts of thousands of visitors in the different exhibitions and galleries, and were purchased by art collectors all over the world. Only two sculptures of The Dancer were left for sale.
